Mornington Students Marketing Plan - "Where Retail Meets the Sea"

The Mornington Peninsula Shire, in partnership with Mornington Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hosted 6 Mornington Secondary School students as part of the Mindshop Excellence Program.
The students were given the challenge to research who shops in the Mornington retail centre and to devise marketing initiative that Mornington Chamber of Commerce and Industry can implement. On their final day (Friday), the students presented their findings, with much success.
Throughout the week the students were very driven to complete the task at hand. The innovating thinking, dedication and sheer hard work each student put in was unbelievable. The students applied their team building and problem solving techniques that were given to them at the start of the week. Their office whiteboard had outlines of mind maps, to do lists and timetables. Part of this project involved surveying the community. The students undertook this task, which can often be quite confronting, in a confident and professional manner. Many community members commented on what a great job the students were doing.

By the second last day I could feel the pressure mount on the students, it was time to focus on the presentation. The students handled this with determination, style and panache. Council and business representatives that were there on the day have taken the students recommendations into consideration when looking at future activities.
